Across our various locations on five continents, we face specific situations shaped by local circumstances. Today, we are receiving this logo as a gift, all together, at the same time.
Commissioned by the Chapter. The General Chapter of the Congregation in 2012 clearly requested the creation of a ‘dynamic and meaningful logo that would become common to the whole Mennaisian Family’.
At the service of a Family and the International Educational Network. Designed by a professional graphic design studio, this logo is intended to be a tool at the service of the Brothers, the laity and the La Mennais International Educational Network.
Strengthening unity and visibility. A family needs shared points of reference to foster communion. Belonging to a global educational network is an opportunity, a source of pride and an asset.
A symbol and a sign: we live in different local contexts and are united by a shared spirit: ‘Growing together’ (children, young people, families, educators, teachers).
It represents our identity: education as a path to evangelisation.
It is rooted in the history of the Brothers’ Congregation.
It conveys a momentum and an energy that remain active today.
A name. ‘La Mennais’ is a natural reference to the founder: John-Mary de la Mennais, a man who embodies a vision and a set of values. It is a signature.
Architecture. The overall design conveys a vision, a goal: to grow together, to take flight.
The initials “D + S”: “Dieu Seul” (God Alone), the congregation’s motto, are at the heart of the design and form a single unit with the ear of corn, which draws on the congregation’s coat of arms and the crest of the founder’s paternal family.
The ear of corn symbolises the Word, the seed, the mission. It takes its momentum from the “e”, the first letter of the word “education” in French, English, Spanish and Italian.
The five coloured grains represent the five continents and the international dimension.
These grains are in motion. They evoke the diversity of children, young people, families and educational teams, and in this spirit, blossoming, fulfilment, that which bears fruit.
Blue is the emblematic colour of truth and discovery.
Chosen for its serenity and simplicity, blue is a colour that reassures and provides a sense of security.
It symbolises the trust at the heart of every educational relationship.
It is also the colour of the sea that connects the continents.
The colours of the grains are those of the five continents.
